  APEC process of trade and investment liberalisation open wide opportunities market access well as expansion of business beyond national economy, however it has been recognized SMEs consist more than 80% of all total businesses in APEC economies. To ensure that SMEs can fully benefit from this process, government need to improve the environment where SMEs operates.

WLN : Women Leaders' Network

A dynamic regional network composed of women leaders in business, government and academia and civil society (NGOs, community organisations from the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) economies. Established in 1996, WLN through its linkage to APEC SMEs Ministerial Meeting is an effective channel that can be promote the integration of gender perspectives into APEC process and the recognitions of women’s vital contribution to their economies.

Being the host country of the APEC2000 Meeting, Brunei Darussalam will be hosting the APEC WLN meeting which is one of the satellite meetings held before and in conjunction with APEC SMEs Ministerial Meeting which will be held on 21-23 June 2000. Delegates to the meeting will also have the opportunity to attend others events namely :-

  • Trade Fair
  • SME Workshop on Electronic Commerce
  • SME Business Forum
